KGL Season 6 - Division 4 SoG Round-Up
Ever so slightly belated but here's the SoG round-up for KGL Season 6 - Division 4...

KGL Season 6 has come to a close and after a slow start, SoG chalked up a comfortable 2nd place in divsion 4. The season format was the same as previous with six team, five matches, two promotion and two relegation spots. With a disrupted side throughout the season - due to holidays and what not - it took a while to find the groove, intially losing to NarChad. But the groove was most certainly found as SoG went on to record an unopposed four game win steak against uGu, PmG, Kokaine and MAG.

The first game of the season was againts NarChad, who were considered one of the hot favourites to win the league. The SoG line-up featured BaZ, VisualEyes, Leanspartan, The_Iceman and Frostmagic (I think?) and the map was de_contra. The team played well and fought heroically at times but couldn't quite match their opponents and the game finished up as a dissapointing 23 - 7 defeat. It was suggested by some that things may have been different had the big name players such as Benj0s and Jimb0 - who were away on a romantic escapade in the lake district - been available.

On the rebound Sog were matched up against uGu with a team consisting of Baz, Benj0s, Jimb0, VisualEyes and Leanspartan. The map for week 2 was de_inferno and uGu showed little resitance to, what ended up being, an emphatic 27 - 3 victory to SoG. The perfect cure for the hangover left from week 1.

Week 3 was SoG's biggest test of the season with the absence of BaZ, the clans designated caller and self-appointed clutch hero saviour. BaZ left with the words "you better win those two games on Sunday!" but one could detect an air of expectant failure in his tone. Thankfully, playing on the vomit inducingly familiar map of de_dust2, SoG could finally prove that BaZ wasn't primary reason for SoG's success. The game finished 19 - 11 to SoG against PmG with a team consisting of VisualEyes, The_Iceman, Jimb0, Benj0s and Frostmagic.

With the top four teams now on the same points, week 4 was to be the make or break week for division 4. The opponents for this week were fellow promotion hopefuls Kokaine and the match was to be played on de_nuke. The game would almost certainly hand the winner a promotion spot and the loser mid-table obscurity. And it was SoG who came out victors with a sold 20 - 10 score.

The final week was a straight fight for between 1st and 2nd place. Unfortuanetly PmG had folded and this meant that no matter what the score, Kokaine couldn't finish above SoG. To finish 1st NarChad would have to lose heavily and and SoG would have to do the exact opposite. Naturally this didn't happen as NarChad recorded a win against uGu. SoG took on MAG winning the game with a solid 21 - 9 victory and a team consisting of BaZ, Frostmagic, VisualEyes, Jimb0 and Tyde (replaced after 3 rounds by Benj0s).

Pos Team.....................P.......W......D......L......RD......P
1.....NarChaD................5......4......0......1......60......12
2.....SOG..........................5......4......0......1......38......12
3.....Kokaine..................5......3......0......2......10......9
4.....irasta.......................5......2......0......3......6.........6
5.....[uGu].......................5......2......0......3......-28......6
6.....[MAG]......................5......0......0......5......-86......0

Another good season in KGL for SoG with a fine example of the successful implementation of forced squad rotation. Congrats everyone who played and let's hope for a continuation of our 4 game win streak in what will be a much tougher league.

SoG - KGL Division 4 Champions!!!

When SoG left i35 back in November with our impressive record of 0 wins, 0 draws and 9 defeats, morale was at an all time low. With one last throw of the CSS dice, to try and rekindle some kind of interest, we entered KGL Season 4. What was to follow rocked the CSS community down to the very core. The unthinkable happened; SoG had actually won something in its long and glamarous history.

We were entered into Division 4 and we instantly recognised some familiar face such as SC@ and 2x. Not only did we take the coveted top spot, but we also miraculously won every game we played with an impressive 100+ GD. Next up is Season 5 in Division 3 - hopefully we can win a game in that division :D

Well played everyone!

CHAMPIONS!!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

SoG Achieve New Milestone

SoG are pleased to announce that they have achieved the seemingly impossible: becoming the number one Google result for the all-important search term "cockhatdance"! The achievement comes after a month of hard work featuring an extensive website redesign and the creation of a new SoG subdomain for everybody's favourite penis-hatted dancer.

Speaking today clan Internet Big Man 6mullet said: "SoG couldn't be more delighted at this landmark achievement for the clan. Cockhat was a labour of love for both myself and SoG webdesigner Benj0s but we feel the minutes of effort have really paid off."

The bear-like IBM continued: "As a clan growing in importance in the European pro gaming scene we now couldn't be in a better place to leverage the crucial search term 'cockhatdance'. After a year of set-backs including Multiplay UK's questionable tournament ruling at i33 this truly marks the day that SoG move from their position as UK gaming posterboys to internet sensation."

The Peter Pan-esque Benj0s added: "I have never been happier. When I first saw 6mullet's dancing cockhat I knew we potentially had something special on our hands. The ASCII penis waving from side to side was so hypnotic. But it wasn't until I set the adorable tyke dancing to the tune of Stevie Wonder's 'I Just Called To Say I Love You' that we really hit it big."

SoG's content-rich website has seen the hits rocket since the grand unveiling of cockhat in late August 2008 and today command a lofty 7000 unique visits a month. And Benj0s is sure of what's to blame for the phenomenon: "There's no doubt in my mind whatsoever. Cockhat has revitalised the website and put it on a par with other mainstream sites such as the BBC, Guardian Unlimited and Goatse."

But clan spokesman Baz^! still feels some regret about the move. "Obviously, having such an important search term direct to our clan site is a real boon for SoG, but I can't help but feel a small sorrow about it all," the Rooney-like loudmouth said. "It's just such a shame that for all the joy Cockhat has brought to the world that one of its key creators, Sir Stephen Wonder MBE, will never see the joy it brings to a child's face with his own eyes."

Brand Spanking New Website

Welcome to the new look Seriously Opinionated Gamers website. Its long been agreed that e107 is shite and diffcult to manage so I took it upon myself to rebuild a new site based around phpbb. The majority of the website functions haven't really changed much, just the stuff behind it has.

The new site is a work in progress but I think its stable enough to release to the masses. If you find anything missing/wrong let me know and I change it when I can be bothered. I also have a list of enhancements that may or may not get implemented over time. If you have and ideas for things to put on the site the put a post up on the forum. Hopefully the new dynamic website is the final piece of the SoG puzzle and world domination in CSS and gaming will follow.

Everyone needs to sign up again for a new forum account. The old website and forum will still be available at [old sog site] and [old sog forums]. Feel free to port any old topics over from the old board.

Enjoy.

TF2
ED TF2 Ladder Goes Live
November 4th 2007

The ED ladder is now live - clans are welcome to put out challanges, the rule set should be updated shortly with the correct choices, till then please do not go by the rule set that is listed on the notes. Dustbowl and Gravelpit are to be played over a timelimit of 1 hour (cap limit of 6). Well, Granary and 2fort are as default set for 30 mins (cap limit of 6) However you are allowed to also select a time extension for these maps to either 45 mins or 60 mins. The cap limit remains the same for these time periods, but this maybe reviewed at a later date.

EDAC is mandatory for all ED matches for the ladder - Linkage
Please read the rules and installation instructions for EDAC in above link. you may download EDAC from - Linkage

Whilst playing in ED - you MUST use the ED match configs, these configs can be obtained from here - Linkage

Although currently there is no way to police class limits, it is requested that sides stick to the following limits:-
Heavy x 2
Engineer x 2
Scout x 3

If a stable mod becomes available for limiting classes, then this maybe added as a requirement, however at present none of the mods are stable enough to be used.

Finally I hope you all have fun, if anybody requires any assistance we can be found in irc at #edadmins or #enemydown.tf2 or send myself or one of the TF2 admins a pm via the ED site.

SoG Promotion
Hot on the heels of SoG's stunning victory over LSUCS in the ED Entry ladder (yes, a real victory, not a default win) we are pleased to announce that everyone's favourite biscuit-themed clan have been promoted to the ED Open Ladder. Naturally, this promotion reflects SoG's increasing dominance of the Enemy Down community and is a reward for our tirless campaigning for all that is good in Counterstrike Source. It is in no way an automatic promotion on account of us having completed five official ED matches without disintegrating. Oh no.

Starting with an impressive zero points SoG will whine, whinge and worry their way up the Open Ladder destroying any clan who crosses our path with our trademark pithy wit and dashing handsomeness. SoG are taking it to the next level: fear for your self esteem because we're here, we're queer* and we're capable of shooting you slightly more than we shoot each other.

*SoG are currently not queer. Sorry boys.
